Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, and has developed into one of Europe’s favorite City Break destinations.
The historic city of Prague is split into three distinct areas, the Old Town or “Stare Mesto”, the Lesser Town or “Mala Strana”, and the New Town or “Nove Mesto”.
The city boasts a rich abundance of historic sites and It is the intension of this website to introduce the visitor to some of these sites so enabling them to get the best from their visit to the City of Prague.

The earliest settlement here on the banks of the River Vltava dates back to the 9th century. This was a small fortified settlement built on high ground overlooking the river. This small settlement is now the site of the largest castle in Europe, Prague Castle. The town that developed around the castle has been at the centre of Czech history, and much evidence of that history is awaiting todays visitors. Apart from the castle which contains historically important buildings such as the St Vitas Cathedral and the Strahov Monastery, but other sites in the city such as the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and the Powder Tower.
